The red balloon haiku

I was up all night
dripping the vial out until
it was depleted

had a plane to catch
so I packed a medical
brownie for the ride

which started kicking
in as we began to climb
thirty thousand feet

everything melting
warm pastel cozy plane ride
start to drift away

but instead I wake’d
upon a small green planet
with a spring blue sky

so small you could run
around it and wind up back
right where you started

all covered in grass
looking up at the floating
red balloon up there

in the clear blue sky
learning not to look away
‘else it starts to fall

so I did for a
while until I didn’t I
got quite distracted

on the grass planet
everything neon dancing
unexplainable

sitting full lotus
in a lucid dream flying
back at the body

remember the plane
and the floating red balloon—
run back to find it

no longer floating
This is your captain speaking
wake’d to the landing

Psithurism

                      you’re hygroscopic
non-existent                              amplified
                               distorted

                        you’re thinking
  about trying                           not to fall
                           there you go

                       you’re up there
    sleepin’ in                            the pines
                                 still

                     you’re mesheyed
meandering                             clicking like
                               a lock

                           you’re me
             I’m you                  there is nothing
                           we can do

                        you’re a hang
               drum                      playing
                           with itself

                       you’re a long
winding stone                  staircase
                         in the dark

                     you’re ten days
          of rain                          to replenish
                           the well

                     you’re above
the fog line                      you’re a sexton
                    and the brine

Isaria fumosorosea

                 it came in
on a chamelaucium
wind

  how we always thought
                  it was ending
        we knew it must

how many times have you died
    to wake up

        how many times have you
always do

                           cordycep lungs
                             phase change
            between disappearance

            enveloped in a web
            casket of mycelium                         yeah

                           distill the spirits down
                                           and apply
                                        the substance of death

          tickles the inside
            of your nose like wasabi
      when you do it right

Deathstare pilot haiku

Trap door eraser
a constant flow of the hum
who gives a flying

moths in the window
trying to get in the house
little winged people

black box halo cut
in and out of reach the night
exudes around scales

they swarm the windows
desperate for the light inside
cling to the cold glass

could do anything
the gravity of it all
leg pretzel cosmos

repeat no stop here
purple flashing window pane
nothin’ else I need

you hear a loud bang
what the fucking shit was that
deep in the forest

the coconut oil
makes the butter stronger so
musical night time

then it starts to snow
again and it sinks deeper
a whirlwind of ice

oak tree bacillus
thuringiensis they will
throw up and die soon

the moths don’t really
know what they want they’re just like
automatic folks

the bright lights the heat
they feel it all orgasmic
can’t keep my eyes ope

then I’m on a plane
and it’s flying upside down
right above the sea

does he really have
to fucking do it like that
crash into static

Omen haiku

You ever notice
how when you dream of a plane
everything changes

concrete explosion
windshield shattered glass and screams
don’t stop keep driving

the plane disappears
into a big tunnel with
all the other planes

this is the crossroads
in the sky of the dream time
shadows stand in cue

intersecting pipes
hey where is this plane going
sit obedient

I don’t remember
what we talked about but it
had to be said here

back seat of a car
our faces blank encrypted
empty terminal

there was harmony
in the waypoints of our chaos
it was all a sync

wake up remember
nothing one third of your life
evaporated

empty liquid mind
in the crystal melting snow
lysergic acid

it flips like a switch
when the moon is full and pulls
the lofty curtain

bursts a spinal disc
when strayed too far off the path
sciatic for life

African root bark
ground and put into capsules
metallic vomit

fly around the room
tracers and metabolites
ban the only cures

The dream (inner ear)

Never recognizing
the faceless shadow
that stands beside me
in a dim dream
of some bazaar
looking down at this
gold watch
with a ship
sailing northwest
on my wrist
thinking I will not purchase this-
then it begins

A loud electric surge
pulls me undertow
a speechless soaring
weight
tearing me down;
I will not go

Your name
releases me
to this life
we fell into

My love
is the anchor
that sinks me
to the bottom
of the deep dark sea

Just before

Have you ever crawled up to the window of your eyes?

Do you know what it’s like to die?

Have you ever flown through the night sky?

Can you see what I’m trying to imply?

Have the years just passed you by?

Do you cringe when others lie?

I know you know, but do you try?

I won’t be seeing you on the other side.
